Saint Sulpice

To mark the 5th anniversary of Addamus and the 100th anniversary of Fauré's life, we organised a remarkable 'Come & Sing' event at Saint-Sulpice, the second-largest church in Paris.
The day brought together over 70 enthusiastic participants, accompanied by a live orchestra, to perform in this iconic setting. The combination of the grand venue, the rich musical heritage, and the collaborative spirit of the performers created a truly unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime experience that celebrated music and community in an extraordinary way.

St. Pauls Cathedral | Westminster Abbey

In the same weekend, we had the privilege of singing at two of the most iconic churches in the UK. It was an extraordinary experience to perform such remarkable repertoire, including Elgar's Give Unto the Lord and Kelly's Magnificat in C, in these stunning and historically rich spaces.
The opportunity to sing in these revered settings, with their breathtaking acoustics, made the performances all the more special and memorable.

Our annual visit to Florence was another resounding success, made even more memorable by the honour of singing Mass at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. Performing such exquisite repertoire such as Palestrina's Super Flumina Babylonis and Monteverdi's Mass for Four Voices in this iconic setting was an unforgettable experience.
It truly stood as the highlight of our summer, combining the beauty of the music with the awe-inspiring surroundings of one of the world’s most revered landmarks and the amazing European Culture.

St. John University | Durham Cathedral

We had the pleasure of rehearsing at the stunning St. John's University campus and singing Sunday services at the iconic Durham Cathedral, famous for its remarkable scenes in the Harry Potter series.
Our repertoire for the services included John Taverner's Dum Transisset Sabbatum and Palestrina's Missa Aeterna Christi Munera, both of which were beautifully suited to the cathedral’s magnificent acoustics, adding to the sense of grandeur and reverence in this historic setting.

Salisbury Cathedral

The beginning of our annual visit to Salisbury Cathedral, an event exclusively available to the Friends of Addamus, was truly special.
Over three unforgettable days, we shared laughter, food, and music-making, coming together to celebrate and express our gratitude to the Friends of Addamus for their unwavering support. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, reflect, and enjoy the beautiful surroundings while deepening our appreciation for the community that makes our work possible.

Duomo di Firenze | Santa Croce | St. Marks | Chiesa di San Michele | San Miniato | St. James'

We returned to Florence in style, staying at the charming 4-star Hotel Croce di Malta. This visit included performances at the iconic Duomo di Firenze, Santa Croce, and a special expedition to the Chiesa di San Michele in Arezzo.
The repertoire for the occasion featured Parry’s My Soul, There Is a Country and Stanford’s Beati Quorum Via, both of which harmonised perfectly with the stunning surroundings. Our time in Florence was an unforgettable musical experience, seamlessly intertwined with the rich culture and history of Europe.

York Minster | Beverly Minster

Our return to York proved even more successful than the first, with the addition of the stunning Beverley Minster alongside the famous York Minster. The repertoire included Bairstow's Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence and Jackson's Mass in G, both of which resonated beautifully in these historic cathedrals. The experience of performing in such iconic spaces, enriched by these powerful works, made for an unforgettable return to this remarkable city.

Selby Abbey

With over 200 participants on the day, we had the opportunity to sing in the magnificent Selby Abbey. During this remarkable event, we collaborated with Mathew Coleridge in performing his Requiem, alongside Faure’s Requiem, creating a powerful and moving experience for all involved.

Westminster Cathedral | Kings College Chapel | Guy’s Chapel | St. George’s Cathedral

Marking our first venture to London, we had the privilege of singing a service at each of the city’s renowned churches, including a deeply meditative service of Compline, traditionally sung by the monks of the monastery to close the day. This special service was performed by candlelight, culminating in a moving rendition of John Duggan’s Ave Verum.
Other repertoire for the services included Wood's O Thou the Central Orb and Moeran's Mass in D, both of which beautifully complemented the atmosphere of reflection and peace, enhancing the sacredness of the occasion and making our London visit all the more memorable.

Our first visit to the city of York was truly special, with four services across the weekend, including a candlelit Compline at St. Mary's, Bishophill, and a Latin Mass at the York Oratory.
The repertoire featured Philip Wilby’s Breathe on Me, Breath of God and William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, both of which resonated beautifully in these historic settings, creating a deeply moving and memorable experience for all involved.

Marking the start of our annual visit to Florence, we enjoyed a stay at the luxurious 5-star Hotel de la Ville, which also included a private concert and party at the stunning 17th-century Villa Montalbano.
The event featured exquisite repertoire, including Herbert Howells' Like as the Hart and Collect in the Time of Plague or Sickness by Anthony Gray, specially commissioned for Addamus. We also had the unique opportunity to sing Compline at the iconic Church of San Miniato, situated on the iconic hill overlooking Florence, adding a truly special touch to our Florence experience.

The first online Come and Sing we hosted when the national lockdown was enforced weeks before Easter Sunday, a crucial time for singers with several services consisting of varying music, and churches closed.
With over 70 people joining us for the day - it was a resounding success.

Norwich Cathedral | St. Peter Mancroft | Cathedral of St. John the Baptist
06.09.24 – 10.09.24Singers came together for this multi-day programme in Norwich, working with Caius Lee and composer Matthew Coleridge. Participants performed at Norwich Cathedral, St. Peter Mancroft, and the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, taking part in a workshop exploring Coleridge’s The Breath of Life alongside Duruflé’s Requiem. The programme featured rehearsals, an evening concert, a Eucharist/Mass, and evensong services over the final two days at Norwich Cathedral, providing a valuable opportunity to develop ensemble and vocal skills while performing in these historic and inspiring spaces.

Addamus: Choral Interrail
18.07.25 – 30.07.25Singers from across the world came together for this two-week programme, working with Caius Lee and guest tutors Bob Chilcott, Lorenzo Donati, and James Jordan. We had the privilege of performing in some of Italy’s most iconic and historically rich churches. It was an extraordinary experience to sing a diverse repertoire, from plainchant and Renaissance polyphony to contemporary works, in these stunning spaces. The opportunity to perform under world-class guidance, in such breathtaking acoustics, made the concerts/services and workshops all the more special and memorable. Along the way, we nurtured the next generation of singers, made lifelong friends, and learned from excellent tutors sharing their knowledge.
The programme also offered incredible cultural experiences, from tasting amazing food and drink to visiting landmarks such as the Trevi Fountain and enjoying an inclusive tour of the Colosseum, participating in pasta-making in Frascati, exploring the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, and watching La Traviata at the Verona Opera.
